Transition Houston meets on the first Tuesday of each month, at Christ the King Lutheran Church at the corner of Greenbriar and Rice Blvd. (near Rice Village).
The featured speaker for this month's meeting is David Reed from Texas Natural Builders. He will be providing an overview of alternative building methods including Strawbale and Cob (as for instance in cob ovens), and also DIY solar heating, hot water, and cooking. USGBC Recycling Committee Kick off!Join the USGBC-Houston Recycling Committee on June 8 from 5:30 - 7:30 pm as we contemplate construction and demolition waste, the state of recycling in Houston, and cold drinks with recycling and diversion leaders in the Houston area. We'll meet at the Hilton of the Americas, next to the GRB Convention Center downtown. Come join in the fun!

LEED Professional Appreciation Event June 16 at 6pm. USGBC Texas Gulf Coast chapter wants to thank the men and women who work daily to make the sustainability movement happen in the built environment.

The LEED Professional Appreciation event will be a time for food, drinks, and great networking. With more than 1,600 LEED APs and Green Associates working inside the Houston city limits, this free event will create buzz and interest through the entire Houston community. Each LEED Professional will be honored with a LEED pin to signify their professional achievement, a certificate of appreciation from the chapter and a personal thank you from a representative of USGBC National.

Green Arts Festival. Recycled Art. Fresh Ideas. Green Arts Festival is the creative collaboration between sustainable living and sustainable art.

Green Arts Fest is the culminating day/presentation of the Flor Y Canto sustainable green theater camp. The kids and their families and all of H-town will be invited to participate in and attend the Green Arts Fest! The festival begins as the children finish their camp presentations, then the doors will be open to the public.

Created in partnership with GreeniRecycling, Houston Green Scene and Planeta Verde Now, dozens of local GREEN artisans will flock to Talento Bilingue de Houston 333 Jensen blvd on July 9th from 1-7 to sell, collaborate, free trade and educate the local community about ALL of the many green options in Houston!

Tifani Pust, a local artist from the Mosiac Theatre Company is working hard to get the Green Arts Festival off the ground and are still looking for helpful supporters, sponsors and kind people with a little change to spare.
